Blend and serve

There is nothing like a healthy and simple smoothie. I made my recipe Blissful Berry Smoothie from The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Green Smoothies. Having been away for the long weekend I made a few alterations based on what was in my pantry. The recipes in this cookbook included prep time, portion sizes and nutritional information and suggested variations. Most recipes though required you to use ingredients you might not easily have at home or find that easily at a standard grocery store. I didn’t find many recipes I wanted to make.

This smoothie was a bit sweet for my taste, the main ingredients were berries, figs, spinach and water. I don’t think you need figs in a recipe that already calls for berries and vanilla. I substituted walnuts for cashews and water for almond milk. I added some honey for my sore throat which was too much sweetener.

My favourite smoothie book which I borrowed from the Library is Liquid Raw, I have since purchased a copy for myself.
