May is raw food month for the Cookbook Club.
Asparagus, fiddleheads and radishes are in season, add these to your raw meals. Asparagus is ready to buy from Barrie Hill Farms. Buy local produce from the Barrie Farmer’s market and Local Foods Mart (sign up for their newsletter). Try a local food basket from a Barrie CSA farm offering shares and food baskets.
Interested in going raw? Visit the Barrie and Area Raw Living Food Meet-up group.
Jessica from Rawlicious is visiting to give us a demonstration on how to use a spiralizer to make a ‘gluten-free’ raw pasta alternative. She’ll also talk about how to make homemade nut milk from soaked almonds.
Rawlicious has a rich raw cheesecake that tastes even better than the dairy version. It’s smoothie season so don’t forget to stop by their restaurant for a treat this spring and summer. I love their mint smoothie. I enjoy their pizza to go. Try taking a hands-on ‘uncooking’ class through their restaurant. Have a look at their menu Online.
Visit Rawlicious’ for their Raw Food Mother’s Day Brunch on May 12th for $25 + tax (reservations required 11am & 1pm seatings):
- Hemp Yogurt Parfait
- Savory Crepes
- Fruit Tart
